The only program of its kind in Southern California!

The Board & Train Program is designed for owners that want to give their dogs a HEAD START into the world of training. Dogs in the program stay in Coach Ariel’s personal home where they work with her 1-1 for the entire length of their stay. During this time, the dogs build a solid foundation of training and learn the obedience skills they need to succeed in any environment!

Coach Ariel works with each family to create a personalized “Training Plan” beforehand. This plan covers skills that will be beneficial to the dog and their family. After the program, dogs are returned to their families where they get to showcase all of their new skills! This is not only the most exciting part, but also the most important one: when owners begin their journey as handlers.

After your dogs B & T program ends, Coach Ariel teaches you the skills you will need to take over the handling and continue your dog in the right direction. This program makes it easy for your dogs to transition to that lifestyle since they’ve already had lots of practice and they love it!

Your dog will learn a great deal of obedience skills, practice leash walking, receive enrichment, and get daily exercise (walks, runs, hikes, play, etc.) We provide your dog with clear expectations, communication, dedication, and the consistency that helps them succeed.

We offer 1:1 Training Programs. No other dogs will be boarding during your dogs stay.

These prices reflect our OBEDIENCE FOCUSED program. Dogs with behavioral issues (reactivity, aggression, separation anxiety, fear, etc.) are not good candidates for this program. If you are interested but you are unsure if the program is appropriate for your dog, schedule a phone consultation to find out. We offer a Board & Train option for dogs who need behavioral help on a case-by-case basis. Additional costs apply.

How do I apply?

Fill out the contact form and select “Board & Train”. Once we receive your request, we will begin with a phone call to discuss your dog, lifestyle, and training goals. If your dog sounds like a good fit for the program, we will send you the application form to fill out. We will let you know within one week if your dog is eligible for the program. *Not all dogs will be selected.

How does your program differ from other Board & Train programs?

Canine Coach offers 1:1 training for your dog and your dog ONLY. Your dog will be getting 1 on 1 training every single day of the program.

Another thing that makes our program unique is that it is not held in a boarding facility. Dogs who are accepted to our program stay in Coach Ariel’s personal HOME. So they never have to sleep alone.

Your dogs program will be personalized to their needs and your goals. You will be part of the creative process as Coach Ariel develops the perfect plan for your household - not just for you, but with you.

This is a unique opportunity that prepares your dog and family for a lifestyle of training together with the guidance of a personal dog trainer.

How many dogs are accepted to the program?

Our Board & Train Program is only offered to 12-15 dogs and their families per year. Space is limited and based on schedule availability. Those looking for specific dates can contact us for info and openings.

Will there be other dogs are in this program?

No, we accept only 1 dog at a time. No other dogs will be staying in the home during the entire length of your dogs program. Your dog will receive Coach Ariel’s attention 1-1 EVERY SINGLE DAY. We do often accept 2 dogs from the same home. This is beneficial so they can not only learn their own individual skills, but learn to train alongside one another. If you are interested in this option, contact for pricing.

Will my dog be spending any time alone or get breaks from training?

Yes! It is healthy for dogs to spend some time alone and decompress. This is especially true for dogs who are getting as much care as they do in this program. They will be provided with brain breaks, naps, and chill time between training, enrichment, exercise, play, and attention they receive for a healthy balance. Every dog is different and down time is determined by the trainer during their stay.

Is my dog a good candidate for Board & Train?

The Board & Train Program is obedience focused and designed for dogs 5 months old and older. Dogs with behavioral issues (aggression, reactivity, separation anxiety, excessive fear, etc.) are not good candidates for this program. If you are interested but you are unsure if the program is appropriate for your dog, schedule a phone consultation to find out. We offer a Board & Train option for dogs who need behavioral help on a case-by-case basis. Additional costs apply.

What is included with the B & T Programs?

With every Board & Train, we include 3 hours of instruction with dogs and their families after their dog completes the program. During that time, Coach Ariel teaches you and your family how to utilize the skills that your dog learned, how to build on them, and how continue your dog on the best path. Owner training sessions can be scheduled with Coach Ariel in person locally or virtually via Zoom. Scheduling your first session for pick-up day is highly recommended.

Will my dog eventually lose the skills they learned?

The overall mission of the B & T program is to ensure owners and their dogs have the tools to succeed for the long term. This is why 3 hours of owner training are included with the program. This program is designed for owners who have a passion to learn how to be better handlers, but want to make their dogs new skills transition well to their own home. Over time, if skills are not practiced and utilized, your dog may begin to forgot them. Additional in-person or virtual sessions are offered at a 10% discount to help keep you on track. Follow up sessions may be necessary to help owners develop lasting skills.

Can I do follow up sessions with Coach Ariel after the program?

Absolutely! Many owners want to continue building on their skills! Owners are welcome to schedule additional sessions. Has it been over 6 months since your dog trained with us? Book a Board & Train Refresher and ask about your discount!
